Emergency Cardiovascular Care
Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people come to Osceola Regional. To
increase our Emergency Team’s readiness, the hospital has established a community
initiative with the Osceola County and City of Kissimmee EMS system where cardiac
tests results are transmitted via LifeNet System, a wireless electronic device
installed inside EMS vehicles, directly to our Emergency Department, even before
the patient arrives to the hospital. This means our Team will be ready to open a
heart vessel faster. For patients having a heart attack, the national standard is
to try to get the patient from the door to the cath lab for balloon angioplasty
within 90 minutes. Osceola Regional and its Cardiac & Vascular Institute is proud
to beat that goal. Because of this success, we're able to save more heart muscle,
which leads to better outcomes for our patients.
Ice Alert: Chances of full recovery just got better for heart attack patients that have been successfully resuscitated after their heart has stopped. The new ThermoSuit® System allows advanced standard of care and reduction in patients’ neurological impairment. Osceola Regional is the first hospital to use the ThermoSuit® technology in the state of Florida.
Diagnostic Cardiology
As the first in the area with many of the newest diagnostic technologies, Central
Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute provides superior equipment, staff and
resources available for the most accurate diagnostic testing. Our talented team
accurately assesses your heart condition to include angina, congestive heart
failure, acute myocardial infarction and other related conditions. Central
Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute’s diagnostic imaging services are available
on-site where inpatient testing, STAT orders, emergency studies and more complex
studies are performed.
Interventional Cardiology
Combine innovative treatments with a trustworthy track record. Our medical
professionals can detect even the smallest heart irregularity using a full range
of comprehensive diagnostic tests and interventional procedures performed with
leading-edge technology. We have two (2)cardiac catheterization labs and one (1)
electrophysiology suite, where cardiologists use the latest digital imaging
systems, including an all-digital X-ray cardiovascular imaging system.
Electrophysiology
A highly skilled team of physicians specializing in internal medicine, cardiology
and cardiac electrophysiology treats heartbeat irregularities (electricity of the
heart) with the most sophisticated tools available today. An Electrophysiology
(EP) Study is a study that is conducted in order to measure exactly how the
electrical impulses flow through your heart during a heartbeat. A small catheter
is placed inside your heart to record electrical impulses and to determine areas
of abnormal electrical conduction information. Electrophysiology procedures may be
invasive or non-invasive.
Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
To handle the complexity of open heart surgery cases, our Cardiac & Vascular
Institute features state-of-the-art operating rooms and intensive care units, and
specially trained anesthesia personnel who deal exclusively with cardiac and
thoracic surgery patients.
Damage to the mitral valve can lead to a condition known as mitral regurgitation. Minimally invasive mitral valve repair/replacement is a safe and many times a superior option for treating mitral regurgitation that uses new technology to redirect the heart’s bloodflow — and it happens at Central Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
Potential benefits of minimally invasive mitral valve repair/replacement:
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
Our surgeons are among the best in the Southeast United States, excelling in the
newest vascular procedures that many other facilities only read about. Our
leading-edge medical knowledge and surgical expertise allows us to perform
advanced endovascular procedures such as: complex angiography, peripheral balloon
angioplasty and stenting, atherectomy, aortic and thoracic aneurysm stenting, and
carotid stents as well as the full gamut of open vascular procedures such as
carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm repair and peripheral bypass procedures .
Cardiovascular Rehabilitation
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is a medically supervised and monitored program
of exercise and education on diet and lifestyle designed to promote the fullest
recovery from heart disease. Guided by specialized cardiac nurses, the program’s
goal is to help patients safely resume normal and active lives as possible. The
four-phase program is individualized to meet the needs of each patient.
